Police
The City of Magee has an excellent police
department with fully trained officers, a
special narcotics unit, a warrant division,
and an investigation division. A new police
station, City Hall, and city jail have recently
been completed.
Fire
Department
The City of Magee has thirty-six trained volunteer
firemen with a full time fire services coordinator.
The city has a fire insurance rating of 6
and is served by three pumpers and a rescue
unit.
Medical
Facilities
Magee General Hospital is a
modern 64-bed facility with swing bed capability
and features the latest in diagnostic equipment.
On staff is an ophthalmologist specializing
in cataract surgery and eye care, a pulmonary
specialist, and an Orthopedic Surgeon. The
radiology department features a CAT scan,
nuclear medicine, mammography, and ultra sound.
The laboratory features the latest technology
in computerized diagnostic equipment. The
hospital offers 24-hour emergency services.
Magee Medical and Surgical Clinic located
adjacent to the hospital has eight family
practitioners. Five dentists have practices
in Magee. Other facilities include Millcreek
Convalescent Center, Boswell Regional Center
and Millcreek Rehabilitation Center, a private
residential center for mental, emotionally
and physically handicapped. Seven home health
agencies serve the area. Tuscan Courts, a
new 3-story medical plaza, is scheduled to
open in the near future, and is located adjacent
to the Magee General Hospital. Pioneer Health
Services Corporate Headquarters recently built
and now occupies a 30,000 sq.ft state-of-the-art
facility, which adds greatly to the health
community of Magee, and provides many employment
opportunities.
Ambulance
Magee is served by AMR Ambulance
Service.
Mississippi
National Guard Unit
There are 149 members in the unit with five full time personnel.
